I got a text from this number on a craigslist ad that I ran. They didn't even want to look at the product and said they wanted to buy it and if I could give them my paypal acct....of which I do not have. Not sure if this is a scam, but it made me uncomfortable. Why would someone text me and not call for a $1,500 item?

recorded message saying that we want to ring 'em back to pass on a statement or legal action will be taken. this was a try to collect a debt

rang our house id'd themselves as IRS // informed us to ring back right away.

By answering the call you let them know there is a person behind that number and you're phone number is now being sold to hundreds of telemarkting companies; it doesn't matter if you ask them to remove your number, they just sell it to someone else that you haven't asked to remove your number. The only thing you can do now is change your number to an unlisted one and even that does not always work.
