The number 256-337-8997 was reported to the FCC on 2018-06-22 for Unwanted Calls from Florida

Received from the 1099 GMAC Mortgage but I have never worked for them. I called the number 800-766-4622 and they asked for my account, which I do not recognize and never has been, and so they asked me for a SS #. Although the number may be lawful, (re looking for their website), I found it strange and may be a scam

Bill Collector. They buy worthless debt for pennies on the dollar and call up threatening legal action that they cannot legally do to try and scare you. Hang up.
