When I answered, there was a robot voice telling me there was a judgment against my social security number in Texas(!?!) I live in Delaware. It said to press "1" to speak with a social security expert. I did that, and the automated system put me on hold until a human answered. The female human refused to give me her name, but she said she was from social security. I immediately informed her that I was recording this entire call, and I asked her if she would approve being recorded. Without uttering a single word, she hung up on me.

Even when you owe on a debt do not make any payment agreements with a debt collector cos you've no contract with 'em to pay this. Making a payment agreement with 'em over the telephone would be considered a verbal agreement. Let 'em recognise that you're gonna pay the firm that you've a debt with & not them. Be company in informing 'em this. make payments to the firm these people will accept them. You only have a contract with the firm you owe & not a 3rd party collection agency.
